Oliver Kirch Suffers Lateral Collateral Ligament Tear
FCK midfielder Oliver Kirch is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a rupture of the lateral collateral ligament of the right ankle joint. He will be out of action for four to six weeks.
The 28-year-old was forced to leave the pitch in the 27th minute after he received the injury in a duel with Hoffenheim’s Ibertsberger in the Red Devils’ road game against TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday. He was thoroughly examined by team doctor Ulrich Schmieden on Monday, February 7, 2011. The injury will be conservatively treated and Kirch will not undergo surgery.
Oliver Kirch has made 94 Bundesliga appearances for 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Arminia Bielefeld (3 goals). Moreover, the midfielder has made 20 second division appearances and scored four goals. He has been at FCK since July 2010.
