Red Devils Win Friendly against RW Ahlen

The Red Devils chalked up a 2-0 victory in their friendly against their Rot-Weiss on Saturday, November 14, 2009. Jiri Bilek and Ricky Pinheiro scored the goals for FCK in Marburg.

Friendly in Marburg

1. FC Kaiserslautern took advantage of the break for internationals, playing a friendly against Rot-Weiss Ahlen to keep the rhythm. On the other hand, the match offered FCK head coach Marco Kurz the opportunity to take a close look at players who did not appear in official matches recently. In addition to that, the players had the chance to get playing time under their belts. Srdjan Lakic and Mathias Abel as well as Kai Hesse, Fabian Müller and Danny Fuchs were part of the starting eleven. Marco Knaller, Steven Zellner, Boris Becker and Jonas Marz, FCK U-23 players also made their appearances in Marburg.

The 600 onlookers at Georg Gassmann Stadium saw action-packed and committed performances at both ends. Dragan Paljic and Danny Fuchs created chances for the Red Devils, but the best scoring opportunity belonged to Kai Hesse a few minutes ahead of the interval as he appeared in front of Ahlen’s shot-stopper Kirschstein in consequence of a fine give-and-go with Srdjan Lakic. Unfortunately, Hesse’s shot missed the target. At the other end, the strong FCK defense and goalkeeper Robles prevented their opponents from creating promising chances.

Marco Kurz replaced Amedick and Dick by Alex Bugera and Ricky Pinheiro after 45 minutes. The agile Jiri Bilek gave his team the lead on 55 minutes, thundering a Bugera free kick into the net. Two minutes later, Ricky Pinheiro added the second goal for the visitors as he capitalised on the brilliant assist by Danny Fuchs. The Red Devils could have made it even more later on, but Kai Hesse and Srdjan Lakic failed to convert their chances. Luis Robles showed an excellent performance, saving some dangerous attempts at the other end.
