The renowned pharmacist and scientist Prof. Dr. Peter Theiss, who was born in Homburg, recognized the trend towards natural remedies more than 30 years ago. As a result of the comprehensive home production of natural remedies and the continuously increasing demand, he established the Dr. Theiss Naturwaren GmbH in 1978. This was the start of a remarkable story of success.

In addition to the brand Allgäuer Latschenkiefer (with its acclaimed leg and foot care range as well as remedies for muscle and joint pain), the Dr. Theiss Group also comprises the brands medipharma cosmetics (skin care products based on olive oil), Lacalut (oral and dental hygiene products) and Dr. Theiss (special cosmetics and pharmaceuticals).
From natural remedies to foot & skin care products, from oral hygiene to beauty products, everything is produced in line with the company motto "in harmony with nature" at the company headquarters in Homburg/Saar (Germany) and is available worldwide at pharmacies only.
The Dr. Theiss Group lays a big emphasis on sustainability. The Allgäuer Latschenkiefernöl (mountain pine oil) is produced in line with the natural cycle.
Planted in the Allgaeu, the trees are grown from seed. The mountain pile oil is gained from the ends of the tree’s branches which are cut off, chaffed and distilled. The ash generated during this process is the perfect fertilizer for the young mountain pine plants. In case of a summer with lots of bugs, more nest boxes for birds are put in the trees to get rid off the annoying bugs in a natural way. The mountain pine trees can be harvested for more than 15 years.
Hence, it is guaranteed that the precious mountain pine oil maintains its high quality level.
