Nikolaus Schröder established a butcher shop in Saarbrücken Malstatt in 1865 and laid the foundation for a great story of success as today, more than 140 years later, Schröder Fleischwaren is one of Germany’s most important meat products factories.

Knowing full well that quality, customer satisfaction and diligence are the main pillars of any successful business Nikolaus Schröder rapidly developed his retail store and delivered his products to his customers’ doors with a panel van already a few years later. With skill and a keen sense of trends and customer needs Schröder quickly became the number one butcher shop in Saarbrücken. Operating more than 420 home improvement and DIY centers in nine countries, the Praktiker Group plays Champions League in the European home improvement and DIY sector. Around 30,000 employees generate an annual turnover of about four billion euros. Following its foundation in the German state of Saarland in 1978, the history of Praktiker AG began with the opening of one home improvement and DIY center in Luxembourg and the first four centers in Germany.

It all began in spring 2008 when Martin Buchstaller, director of Volkswagen AG Rhine-Main region, inspired by the Red Devils’ overwhelming fighting spirit which avoided their relegation, invited the Volkswagen Partners to Kaiserslautern.

SPORTFIVE and Stefan Kuntz, chairman of the FCK management board, presented the VW Partners Palatinate with several potential partnership models for a co-operation between the Volkswagen Partners Palatinate and 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
