Young talents’ high performance center “Sports Park Red Devils”.
Since the year 2000, FCK’s young talents have been coached in the high performance center “Sports Park Red Devils” The area of 27,000 square meters embraces four turf fields and two artificial turf fields as well as an office building. It is the location, however, that is particularly remarkable for the Fröhnerhof in Mehlingen.
Surrounded by the Palatinate Forest, but still only eight kilometers away from the Fritz Walter Stadium, the “Sports Park Red Devils” offers young talents ideal possibilities and facilities to train their physical fitness.
There are, for example, six running tracks in a hillside location for uphill and downhill sprints, an 800 meter long running track made of bark mulch as well as a hillside running trail.
Concerning the organization, the “Sports Park Red Devils” is well set too. Frank Lelle, head of the young talents’ high performance center, Dirk Walter, coordinator of the U9 to U11 teams, and Helmut Zahn, coordinator of the U12 to U15 teams, are in charge of the 15 youth teams and the amateur team of FCK. “Everything is close at hand, there are no big distances; consequently, things can be arranged quickly,” the former professional player Lelle points out and adds: “Most important, however, is that the young talents love playing here with us in the “Sports Park Red Devils.”
